Our Advanced CSS website design course teaches how to deliver visually compelling web documents to users across a broad range of devices, operating systems and media types.
Designing to standards with accessibility in mind is the future of website design. The benefits are many; to you, your clients and the users of the websites you design and build. By working to standards and harnessing the power of CSS you can drastically reduce your business overheads by streamlining your website maintenance process. You can also boost your clients Internet visibility by opening up their online business to wider and varied markets.
Webade supplies two training courses, each is designed to bring your abilities to a specific check-point, this provides you with the option of coming in to either course at your current level of ability. An in-depth outline of each course can be found on the courses page available from the main navigation bar.
This course requires no pre-requisite knowledge, and provides the under pinning knowledge for the Advanced course.
You will receive an introduction to CSS syntax, learn how to optimise your style sheets with shorthand syntax and inheritance, use specificity to provide weighting to your rules and learn how to use the import method to gain access to further style sheets. The course finishes with a look at the box model problem and how to feed different values into different browsers.
This course requires that you have completed the basic course or your knowledge is equal to that accrued in the basic course. You will build on your existing knowledge and learn how to correctly structure your web pages to allow true separation of content from presentation and how to build CSS driven websites. For a complete itinerary of this course please view the Training Course Outlines link.
The advanced course will also teach you how to make your websites portable across devices such as PDAs and Smart Phones. You will also learn how to present your documents correctly for printing.
Once completed, the training courses will provide you with an in-depth knowledge of how to build compliant websites that will meet the standards as laid down by the W3C and meet the required accessibility check-points for level 3 of the WAI - Web Accessibility Initiative.
If you are a UK based company, either managing your own web site, or, you are a web design company designing for clients then you have an obligation to meet the DDA specifications.
It is your responsibility to ensure that every reasonable effort has been made to make your websites accessible.
The two courses out-lined below are designed to enable you to meet the requirements of the DDA while implementing standards based code. It is worth bearing in mind that websites built with standards compliant code are not necessarily accessible, but a website that does not use standards compliant code will not be accessible.
